Ring Unveils New Battery-Powered Doorbell with Advanced Features

Ring has introduced an upgraded version of its popular Battery Doorbell Plus outdoor camera, now dubbed the Battery Doorbell Pro. Promising a significant enhancement over its predecessor, this new model is hailed as Ring's most advanced battery-powered doorbell to date.

According to Ring, the Battery Doorbell Pro is packed with features that surpass even its wired counterparts. Among its standout features is radar-powered 3D motion detection, a technology previously seen in Ring's Stick Up Cam Pro. Referred to as "Bird's Eye View," this innovative feature tracks the movement of objects within the camera's field of view, allowing users to monitor visitors' paths and the routes they take.

Complementing this is an algorithm that generates more refined and discreet motion alerts, minimizing unnecessary notifications triggered by passing animals or shadows. The system also provides a visualization of this motion data, represented by a series of dots on an aerial image of the user's property.

Visual quality has also received a boost, with the camera capable of recording 1546p HD+ video and employing upscaling features to enhance image clarity. Ring emphasizes that its dynamic image processing and high-efficiency compression ensure lifelike color and sharpness, whether viewing live footage or recorded videos, even in low-light conditions thanks to the new Low-Light Sight tool.

Furthermore, the Battery Doorbell Pro incorporates a noise-canceling algorithm, enabling clear audio communication at the door without interference from external sounds. Powered by a rechargeable battery, the device offers Alexa functionality and integration with Echo Show, reflecting Ring's affiliation with Amazon.

For users concerned about data privacy, Ring recently revised its approach to video sharing, pledging to cease the practice of sharing footage with law enforcement without a warrant.

The Battery Doorbell Pro is set to hit the market on March 6, priced at $230, with pre-orders available starting today. Additionally, Ring offers a subscription plan, Ring Alarm Pro, priced at $20 per month or $200 per year, providing cloud storage, package alerts, and backup internet services in case of power outages.
